Biography
Alise Gavare (1999) is a Latvian clarinetist, Co-Principal Clarinet of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.
She completed her Master’s degree in Performance in 2025 at the FHNW Music Academy Basel, where she studied with François Benda, Sergio Pires, Jordi Pons, and Stojan Krkuleski. She previously obtained her Bachelor’s degree at the same institution. Her earlier musical education took place in Latvia, including studies at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music with Mārtiņš Circenis and the Alfrēds Kalniņš Cēsis Music Secondary School with Jānis Bērtiņš.
In addition to her co-principal position, Alise Gavare has collaborated with numerous orchestras in Latvia and abroad, including Latvian National Symphony orchestra, State chamber orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga”, the Latvian National Opera Orchestra, the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, the Nordic Symphony Orchestra, and Neues Orchester Basel.
Her professional activity encompasses symphonic and operatic repertoire, contemporary music projects, chamber music, recordings, radio productions, and international tours. She regularly performs in major concert venues and festivals and has worked with a wide range of conductors and soloists.
She is a laureate of international competitions in Switzerland, Italy, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Latvia, and has participated in masterclasses with Nicolas Baldeyrou, Karel Dohnal, Sharon Kam, Harri Maki, Björn Nyman, and Calogero Palermo.
Alise Gavare is a recipient of scholarships from the Birgit Holzherr Stiftung, LYRA Stiftung, Schüller Stiftung, Érgata Stiftung, S. & B. Salzmann Stiftung, and the Crusell Society.
